RFC Individuals

Rule 1

The key is integrated with the following data:

  1. The first letter of the paternal surname and the next first vowel of the same.
  2. The first letter of the mother's surname.
  3. The first letter of the name.

Example:

Juan Barrios Fernández
Father's surname Barrios BA
Mother's surname Fernández F
Name Juan J
Resulting from the alphabetical expression: BAFJ
Eva Iriarte Méndez
Father's surname Iriarte II
Mother's surname Méndez M
Name Eva E
Resulting from the alphabetical expression: IIME

Rule 2

The taxpayer's date of birth will then be entered, in the following order:

  1. Año (year): The last two digits will be taken, writing them in Arabic numerals.
  2. Mes (month): The birth month will be taken in its order number, in a calendar year, writing it with Arabic numerals.
  3. Día (day): It will be written in Arabic numerals.
Year: 1970 70
Month: Diciembre     12
Day: 13 13
Resulting in the numerical expression: 701213

And complementing this with the alphabetic-numerical expression we will have:

The result will be the numerical expression: 830305

When the year, month or day of the date of birth contains only one number, a ZERO will be placed before it.

Rule 3

When the initial letter of any surname or given name is a compound letter, only the initial letter of that letter will be written. In the case of Ch, write C, and in the case of Ll, write L.

Rule 4

In cases where the individual's paternal surname consists of one or two letters, the code will be formed as follows:

  1. The first letter of the father's surname.
  2. The first letter of the mother's surname.
  3. The first and second letters of the name.

Rule 5

When the paternal or maternal surname is compound, the first word corresponding to either of them will be used for classification.

Rule 6

When the name is compound, that is, it is formed by two or more words, the initial letter of the first word will be taken for its formation, provided that it is not MARIA or JOSE given their frequent use, in which case the first letter of the second word will be taken.

Rule 7

In cases where the individual has only one surname, it will consist of the first and second letters of the paternal or maternal surname, as shown in the birth certificate, plus the first and second letters of the name.

Rule 8

When the name of natural persons includes articles, prepositions, conjunctions or contractions, these will not be taken as elements of integration of the key, examples:

Rule 9

When the four letters that form the alphabetic expression result in an unsuitable word, the last letter will be replaced by an “X”.

Rule 10

When special characters appear as part of the first name, paternal surname, and maternal surname, they must be excluded from the calculation of the homonym and the check digit. The characters will be interpreted if and only if they appear individually within the first name, paternal surname, and maternal surname. Examples:

Observation:
In the case of a woman, her maiden name should be used.
